Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open-world action game developed by Rockstar Studios and published by Rockstar Games. Set in 1899, it follows Arthur Morgan, a senior member of the Van der Linde gang, as the group attempts to survive while federal agents and bounty hunters pursue them. The game takes place across a large representation of the American frontier.
The single-player campaign combines exploration, gunfights, horseback travel, hunting, fishing, robberies and interactions with characters throughout the world. Players control Arthur Morgan and can undertake story missions as well as numerous activities outside the main storyline. The game also includes Red Dead Online, its separate multiplayer component.
The story focuses on the Van der Linde gang's declining fortunes and the relationship between Arthur and the other gang members. Rockstar describes the central conflict around the gang's attempts to rob, steal and fight their way across the frontier while internal divisions increasingly threaten their survival.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018. A Windows PC version followed on November 5, 2019, while a Stadia version was also released. Rockstar's official game page lists PS4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia as the game's platforms.
