God of War Ragnarök is an action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It continues the story of Kratos and Atreus following the events of God of War (2018), with the pair journeying across the Nine Realms as the threat of Ragnarök approaches. The game was originally released for PlayStation consoles in November 2022.
Gameplay combines exploration, melee combat, ranged attacks, puzzles and character progression. Kratos uses weapons including the Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos, while the game introduces new abilities and combat options for both Kratos and Atreus. Players travel through different Norse realms and encounter gods, monsters and other hostile creatures.
The game is designed as a single-player experience. Its story focuses on the relationship between Kratos and Atreus while expanding the Norse mythology introduced in the previous game. It features a variety of environments across the Nine Realms and includes numerous optional exploration and combat activities alongside its main story.
A Windows PC version was released on September 19, 2024. The PC edition was developed by Santa Monica Studio with Jetpack Interactive and includes features such as unlocked frame rates, ultrawide display support, customizable controls, NVIDIA Reflex and support for DualSense features.
